Rotary commissions solar project in Ruga Fulani Community

The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu has commissioned a solar powered electricity project for Ruga Fulani Community in the FCT.

The project, donated by the Rural Electrification Agency, was facilitated by Mr Amwe Raphel, a member of the Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu.

At the commissioning, the District Governor, Mr Ayoola Oyedokun, said the intervention was laudable, as it was part of rotary’s mandate to change lives.

According to him, it is the desire of Rotary to touch one community at a time, saying this was part of the `Light Up Ruga Community’ project.

At the event in Abuja, the club President, Chinelo Audrey-Ofoegbunam, said with support from the Rural Electrification Agency, the club received donation of five light coordinates and mounting of poles.

According to her, the project is necessary for community development, peace building, conflict prevention and resolution.

She said that the intervention in the community which started in 2020, with the donation of a water facility, halted the treks of long distances in search of water.  

According to her, Rotary has adopted the community to bring several interventions such as providing clean water, food, health supplies that will make their lives better.
