The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, has commenced a Risk-Based Nationwide Vaccination against Anthrax.

The exercise, which began in Suleja Niger State on 22nd July, 2023 was preceded by an advocacy visit to his Royal Highness, the Emir of Suleja, Alh. M Awwal Ibrahim.

The ministry, in partnership with other stakeholders also conducted an Anthrax awareness creation for Butchers & Livestock traders.

The Butchers and Livestock traders were educated on clinical signs of Anthrax in animals and humans, mode of transmission, risk factors,  precautionary and control measures to take.

They were also educated on the need to promptly report any suspicion in animals and humans to the nearest Veterinary Authority and Health facility respectively.
