Delta ruler surrenders to Police amid Okuama killings

Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, one of the eight suspects wanted by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in connection with the murder of 17 army personnel at Okuama in Delta State, has turned himself in to the police.

Confirming the surrender, the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, SP Bright Edafe, stated the development on Friday in Asaba.

Ikolo, reported to be a traditional ruler, surrendered to the police on Thursday.

Alongside Ikolo, the DHQ had declared seven others wanted, including Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono, also known as Amangben, Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Reuben Baru, and a woman named Igoli Ebi.

The tragic incident in Okuama claimed the lives of 17 personnel, including the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers.

Their solemn burial took place in Abuja on Wednesday, with President Bola Tinubu, Governors, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, service chiefs in attendance, among others.
